READY FOR A CONSULTATION?
Butt augmentation procedures have become increasingly popular in recent years. However, there’s now more than one technique available to patients interested in boosting their butt. It can be difficult to choose and there are benefits to each, so here’s what to know about these options and how your board-certified plastic surgeon can help.
Fat Transfer
The fat transfer procedure designed to enhance the shape, size, and overall look of the buttocks is called the Brazilian butt lift. During this procedure, fat is taken from donor areas on the body such as the thighs, hips, or abdomen through liposuction and is purified before being injected into the buttocks. You can enjoy immediate results after this procedure, but it can take a few months or longer for your final results to settle in fully. Fat transfer is a great option for people who want to enhance their butt but also have areas of the body they wish to improve with liposuction.
When you undergo liposuction, you can expect some bruising and swelling that lasts a few days. You may notice similar side effects in your butt area because of the injections. Your plastic surgeon will advise you not to put weight on your butt for two to three weeks after your procedure. You should see your final results at around six to eight weeks after the swelling has stopped.
Butt Implants
Butt augmentation with implants is the other option for enhancing your figure. It’s a surgical procedure performed while you’re under general anesthesia and takes only around one and a half hours to complete. Implants are usually made of silicone and are placed into or above the buttock muscles through an incision on the side. After your procedure, you should see immediate results.
Of course, as with any type of surgery, there are certain risks associated with butt implant surgery. One of the most notable is that there is a risk of the implants rupturing. If this happens, you may need the implant removed. However, you may also experience scar tissue that leads to a hard or tight feeling. Your plastic surgeon will discuss the risks with you during your consultation.
After your procedure, you’ll experience bruising and swelling and should avoid putting pressure on the area for some time. For the first 72 hours after your surgery, you should lay facedown as much as possible.
Which Option is Better for Me?
When deciding which option is better for you, it can be helpful to look at which factors are most important to you. Many people prefer fat transfer due to the results being more natural and risks being much lower. However, implants can offer better augmentation if you don’t have enough fat for the transfer procedure. Your plastic surgeon will discuss your best options during a consultation.
