You may or may not have heard that Allergan has announced a voluntary global recall of textured breast implants. These textured implants have been linked to a rare type of cancer known as Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a type of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The FDA has not recommended that women who already have the textured implants get them removed because the cancer is so rare, unless there are experiencing symptoms such as pain and swelling.

If you desire to have your implants removed, we are happy to consult with you to discuss that as well as removal of breast implants and fat grating to breasts and/or breast lift.

Most of our patients have smooth implants and therefore are not affected. If you have questions or concerns about your breast implants, please feel free to call our office.

Dr. Christopher Newman is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Contact our office today to learn more about breast implants, including whether they are right for you.
