Getting older can mean that lines and wrinkles become more prominent. Sometimes, frown lines that appear between the eyebrows can be caused by repeated facial movements like furrowing, laughing, or squinting. Injectables called neuromodulators are often one of the best solutions for achieving a refreshed and rejuvenated look, and Jeuveau® can achieve excellent results with the help of a board certified plastic surgeon.

What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is an FDA-approved injectable designed to lessen the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows. These types of wrinkles, also known as glabellar lines, can begin to form with age and repeated movements. Jeuveau is made from a form of botulinum toxin A which is a bacteria that can block chemical signals to the muscles, relaxing them and preventing further wrinkle formation from movements. Jeuveau is a similar treatment to Botox® but can come with benefits like a slightly lower cost because it’s specifically FDA-approved for cosmetic treatment.

Who is a Candidate for Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is an excellent option for treating fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face for patients who want to avoid more invasive procedures like a brow lift. When administered by a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in facial cosmetic surgery and non-surgical treatments, Jeuveau comes with an excellent safety profile and can be effectively paired with other non-surgical treatments to fully treat signs of aging.

The Jeuveau Procedure

Jeuveau is administered by our St. Petersburg-area board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Newman. Jeuveau treatments can be administered in as little as fifteen minutes. It involves multiple, small injections into the brow area to fully treat the muscles responsible for causing wrinkles. This requires a complete knowledge of the facial tissues, so always select an experienced and knowledgeable provider for your injectable treatments.

Downtime and Recovery

Most patients can return to their regular schedule immediately after Jeuveau treatments. It’s recommended to avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours after treatment since sweating can irritate the injection site. Patients often experience some mild redness, swelling, or itching at the injection sites, but this usually resolves within the day. Jeuveau can last for 3-6 months, after which it can be touched up.
