Are you tired of living with annoying spider or varicose veins? Perhaps you even avoid wearing certain clothing items due to your veins? If this sounds like you, you may be able to benefit from the long pulsed YAG laser treatment in St. Petersburg!

What is the Long Pulsed YAG Laser?

Nd:YAG laser energy is selectively absorbed by the deeper levels of the dermis and allows for treatment of deeper vascular lesions such as telangiectasias, hemangiomas and leg veins. The laser energy is delivered using long pulses which are converted into heat in the tissue. The heat impacts the vasculature of the lesions.

Who is a Good Candidate for the Long Pulsed YAG Laser?

Candidacy for long pulsed YAG laser treatments are dependent upon many factors, including your age and overall health, the extent of your spider or varicose veins, your symptoms, your goals, and what your doctor expects your condition to be in the future.

However, the most common candidates are those with leg veins that cause severe pain, skin problems, blood clots, or embarrassment or lack of self-esteem. Overall, the best way to determine if this treatment is right for you is through a consultation with Dr. Newman.

The Long Pulsed YAG Laser Procedure

During the treatment, the YAG laser device will take several passes over the targeted vein. A highly focused beam of light will target the vein, heating it and damaging it, producing scar tissue. This resulting scar tissue will cause the vein to close and disappear.
