Did you know that lasers can be used to treat wrinkles, fine lines, and other skin imperfections?

Most people are familiar with the term fine lines and wrinkles, however, skin imperfections is a very broad term. There is a multitude of things that may fall under that category.

Common skin imperfections are:

  • Birthmarks
  • Age Spots
  • Sun spots
  • Scars, including acne scars
  • Skin tags
  • Moles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Broken capillaries
  • Unwanted facial hair

If you happen to have any of these unwanted skin imperfections, there are a variety of ways you can easily get rid of them. One of the most effective ways to deal with these imperfections is lasers.

Skin treatment through lasers provides the most effective means of ridding imperfections because of the laser’s ability to target the deeper layers located below the skin’s surface while maintaining controlled precision and intensity. Laser procedures such as laser facial treatment can provide you with more predictable results when compared to other facial treatments like microdermabrasion and chemical peels.

Types of Laser Treatments

When it comes to laser treatment, the non-ablative laser is the most common type as compared to the ablative laser, this is because the non-ablative is less intensive. The difference between the two is that a non-ablative laser specifically targets the actual imperfections while bringing imperfections up to the skin’s surface in order to lessen or remove them effectively. Thus, a non-ablative laser does not damage the skin’s surface to the degree that an ablative laser will.

The Benefits of Laser Treatments

Non-ablative lasers are designed to target skin imperfections at the core. When compared to other skin care treatment that are common used to treat the same issues such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, which only targets the skin’s surface level. By doing this, chemical peels and microdermabrasion provide variable and inconsistent results.

Laser skin treatments are usually spaced a month apart and you may need between three to five treatments depending on the severity of your skin. You should be aware that it takes time before you’re able to see the full benefits of your treatment. This is because non-ablative lasers are able to bring imperfections directly to the surface of the skin and this requires time.

Some things to keep in mind when it comes to laser facial treatments is that following the procedure there is no pain and little to no downtime. You may feel slightly uncomfortable while having the procedure, but at Dr. Newman’s office, we’ll do everything we can to keep you as comfortable as possible.

Due to environmental factors such as warmer climates, it’s almost certain for people to get imperfections like sun spots and wrinkles over time. But thanks to laser facial procedures targeting imperfection issues at their core, the surface of your skin will need to be maintained less frequently than with other anti-aging methods.
