QUICK REFERENCE
The face is often the first area to show signs of aging from years of sun exposure, repeated facial expression, and gravity. With a simply facial procedure like the brow lift, you can smooth out wrinkles in the upper face and address sagging brows to achieve a younger, rejuvenated appearance.
What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a surgical facial procedure that addresses the brow and forehead area. This can improve the appearance of sagging eyebrows and address common wrinkles like lines between the brows caused by weakened skin and tissue with age. The brow lift can be performed alone to address the upper face or can be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures like the facelift or eyelid surgery.
Who is a Candidate for Brow Lift?
Candidates for the brow lift are those who want to achieve a younger appearance with a surgical procedure. Those with eyebrows that droop, causing a tired appearance, can benefit from the brow lift. While the brow lift can effectively address concerns in the upper face, the brow lift will not improve the eyelids, under eyes, or mid face. For these concerns, patients can discuss the possibility of combining their brow lift with an eyelid surgery or facelift. Those that are not ready for a surgical procedure like the brow lift might also ask Dr. Newman about nonsurgical options like Botox to address their wrinkles.
The Brow Lift Procedure
Depending on the techniques used, the brow lift can be performed under local or general anesthesia. A small incision can then be made within the hairline where scarring can be easily concealed. Through the appropriate incisions, the tissue in the upper face can be tightened to reduce sagging and smooth out wrinkles. Any excess skin is then removed, and the incision is closed and sutured.
Downtime and Recovery
Every patient will experience a slightly different recovery depending on the techniques used during their procedure. After a brow lift, patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and general discomfort in the area. Work can typically be resumed within a week depending on how strenuous the job is, and patients begin to feel more presentable at this time. Exercise can gradually be resumed after two to four weeks. Dr. Newman will provide more detailed instructions and restrictions during a consultation.
